Reflection on Capstone
Capstone made me feel as if I was giving the coaches and the athletes of Dillon Stadium hope that Dillon Stadium will become a better place to play at. The community has been waiting for a long time to see something happen about the worn out stadium. I thought if I could bring a wish list from the coaches it would help the Hartford parks department distinguish what their priorities should be and what the users of the field are looking for. I feel me presenting what I had found would motivate them to take action soon.
I didn't do to well when it came to doing my Capstone project it seemed so difficult in my eyes. Not only that, but I was lazy didn't do what the project to my full ability. I usually am good when it comes to school and doing my work, but Capstone was different it was the separation from school to life because in life I'm going to need some of the skills that I needed for this project. This includes making phone calls and talking to people which is not a great skill i have. Capstone was difficult for me to grasp and perform in; It wasn't a highlight of my senior year.
I personally did not like the modification that the Capstone Project endured as it progressed into this year. I feel that last year it was more reasonable of a project and most of the students were expecting to do the same Capstone they had seen done for years. I remember last year as a Junior seeing how the capstone projects were done because some seniors had presented in my class. The project seemed do-able and not to complicated, but then Mrs. Boutalier had told the Juniors that the idea of Capstone would be changing. She explained how we would have to do a project that would benefit the community, which I thought was a big unexpected change and I didn't know what I would do. Although I did lose all of my flash drives that I had throughout high school so doing the other capstone wasn't to ideal either. I feel like this was a big project for us when all the years before it was easier. Also all the teachers stressed Capstone so much as if we did not have other important things to do. In the beginning of the school year football was something that took up a lot of my time. After football is when is started to do my college work like applications, financial aid and scholarships. During this stuff I had to make time for Capstone which I don’t think was fair because some students are busier than others and some kids don’t have the same opportunities for resources like computers like others do. I don’t think it is fair to put a huge project on all students that determines whether or not they can graduate. I understand that we have a class period to work on it, but what if some ones project consists of traveling to certain places and they can’t manage to get a ride. That isn't fair to that person. The Capstone project does make sense because we have determine whether we are suitable to graduate and learned enough in school, although I feel like the intensity of the project could be reduced.
