Job Shadow Reflection
For one of my Job Shadows I interviewed Omar McDew who is the freshmen coach at New Britain High School. He was my head coach as a freshmen football player and we referred to him as Coach O. I decided to interview Coach O because coaching is something I have an interest in pursuing for college and as a career. He was also a very motivational man to me and the other players who played for him. He motivated me to do my best on the field when playing football and in the classroom. As a freshmen he told me and the rest of the team that we had to sit in the front of the classroom that way we wouldn't get distracted by anything and could get the best out of the class. This is a tradition i still follow my senior year in high school unless their are assigned seats. I'm to have met Coach O because he is a good man who tries to help any upcoming freshmen football player make it through high school by motivation, discipline, and tutoring. I interviewed Coach O during the summer before my senior year and it was great seeing him again and telling him the achievements I've made after moving to two other high schools. For the job shadow I went to one of the Summer football practices and helped with the kids. After the practice I interviewed him and asked him the questions that were on the job shadow interview form. After interviewing Coach O it helped me realize that their is more to coaching then just training kids to play, there are other important qualities to coaching like safety, fundamentals, and helping kids graduate. It also showed me that coaching isn't simple it takes a lot of qualities to be a coach like organization, patience, and dedication.
